Yes, I caved, I’m doing one too.
My official reasoning: “gotta start a blog somewhere.”

I like that story, I’m sticking to it.

Jetlagged in Dublin, it’s  better than jet lagged at home, though coming home is nice too… I nodded out on my feet at the Book of Kells exhibit, I nooded out waiting for the Dublin Castle tour to start, I’m surprised I didn’t face plant in my potato (boxties!) and pint-of-stout lunch! But for the most part, thanks to the weak wireless signal and having to repack AGAIN (thanks airline for busting my suitcase, I fixed it, you’re  welcome),  I managed to stay up til midnight a slept hard for 9 hours.

Today the great Americans (and towards the end – Scot) in Ireland  road trip begins! Breakfast, one and Belfast to pick u Katie, who is turning in her thesis draft….

This was taken behind Dublin Castle – I figure the rest of my photos this trip will be very green, might as well throw the protestants a bone.

This clip sums up my exhaustion induced travel delerium beautifully:

It seems really fitting that I come back to my blog on the train up to NYC as I started it on the train home from NYC, basically on a whim.

I’ve been struggling with how to catch back up, I have been taking my daily photos, but my career and personal life have gotten really busy and kind of amazing.

I have lost track of what day number it is because I am in the final stages of divorcing my paper day planner (which had this information under the date every day)… that’s right. I’ve gone cloudy digital baby! (with 15% chance of rain)

So, I’d LIKE to get back to the daily post and photo, but that’s just not a reality. For the second half of this month, I won’t have a laptop or daily access to the internet.  It’s vacation time again!
But I’m dreaming up projects to work on in my travels. Because, the work goes on forever and the party never ends… no wait, the road goes on forever and the work never ends… how about the party goes on forever and the projects never end? Yeah, that’s it.

So here I am, headed up to shoot a charity event at Fashion Week New York. Super excited and slightly less nervous than when I heard I got the gig.

It’s been raining more than I realized lately and about the time I took this photo, I saw water that must’ve been over the tracks kicked up in our wake.

My train has a wake.

365 photos.. day 205 7/24/11

I managed to get out on the beach early enough to see nature stuff!

365 project… day 212 7/31/11… aftermath

The post 13 mile bike ride, basil bud plucking debris.

365 project…. day 194 7/13/11… The Maryland State Flower on the Planet Zorgon

Saturday, August 6th, 2011

In mid-july I had another one of those group shots that take me to hotels and conference centers with corporate art.  This place had an interesting statue that I might use as a subject next time I have a shoot there.  This time, the Black Eyed Susans against the perfect blue sky caught my eye.  But for whatever reason, I didn’t have time to shoot it that day, or it was too freaking hot, so “no problem, I’ll shoot it tomorrow when I come back to deliver the prints.

NOPE. Overcast.

Fortunately the curb was freshly painted. So… change of… yeah, I ain’t gonna say it…

365 Project… day 191 7/10/11 Okra Bloom!

Saturday, August 6th, 2011

I’ve got okra in the garden because I love the pods grilled, when there’s just one, it’s a little side garnish to a meal, if there’s 3-4, a snack.  And they have beautiful flowers that… da-da-daaaaaaa only bloom for a day.  The next morning you have a pinky tip sized okra bud starting to form.

365 project… day 211… 7/30/11 BABY GIRL!

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

A friend of mine is expecting her second daughter.  I am known to fidget and designed this little display while chatting with her sister and another friend of ours at the baby shower.

365 project… day 210 7/29/11…

This reflection caught my eye on the way out of the office.

365 project, day 209 huh? 7/28/11 – Harvest!

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

My garden suffered the heatwave, tomato plants and lettuce all died, half the okra leaves dropped and most of the buds and small pods too… so it was a fun moment to harvest my three shallots and find they were about 3x the size I thought they’d be – AND I read that if I had deadheaded it – they would’ve been LARGER? huh?

Pretty excited about these goodies.  Now they “cure” for about a month.. then it’s lentils and soups and salad dressings!

If you have a garden, pick up a small organic shallot this fall and plop it in the ground and forget about it til spring.  I will always have shallots from here on out – the greens can be used in place of green onions, so long as you don’t pick too many too fast and kill the plant, and then you get a couple bulbs in the summer when the greens dry out!

365 project… day 208 7/27/11 – 5 years!

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

5 years ago today I signed a bunch of papers, then went over to a condo filled with pink wall paper, weird dusty white/blue wall to wall carpeting and a bunch of someone else’s odds and ends that they didn’t want to move to Colorado.

I took a bunch of “before” pictures, then went home to my apartment to pack another couple boxes and plan my attack for removing and repairing as much of that crap as possible before I had to move on Sept 3.

It was all very anti-climatic.

It blew my mind last night when I realized today was the 5th anniversary of me buying my first home.
