January 25, 2012… I thought wrong…

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

My boyfriend told me ice cream would help my sore throat.
I thought he was just being a devil on my shoulder.

I ate crow, shortly after a bowl full of Hagen Daas five vanilla flavor…
I wonder if anyone’s thought of crow/vanilla swirl.

PS I’m sure it’s just a temporary fix because I remember my mom saying diary products were terrible for sore throats.

January 23, 2012 – Why didn’t you vote him out after he lost that first war?

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Today I learned that King George III was the King of England through the American Revolution (which my pocket guide to the kings and queens of the British Isles calls “The Imperial Setback” and “The American Rebellion”) AND the war of 1812.

I’m sure that was covered in history class when we went over these wars, but hey, sometimes things just fall out of your brain.

He lived and reigned longer than any of his predecessors.

I wonder how he would’ve handled The Pig War… if he had lived to see it…

I also wonder how often I can reference The Pig War (my favorite chapter in our history) in this blog.

January 21, 2012 – SO THAT’S WHY I COULDN’T FOCUS ANYTHING EVEN A QUARTER MILE AWAY!

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

Today I learned how to set up and use the Toyo Field 4×5 camera. The tutorial I got on Thursday was great, but there was a minor detail missed, so I had to go back to the rental house for further instruction.

I really hope Penn Camera manages to stay open in some shape or form – the people who work there are fantastic.

Also – It is possible to get so hungry and cold that you think you might puke for a while when you warm back up.

New Year, New Projects…

Sunday, January 1st, 2012

So, for the record, the photo a day project didn’t EXACTLY fail, I just got overwhelmed with projects at work, side projects that were a result of it and various other life happenings, falling behind on posts didn’t help matters.  There are still photos I plan on sharing from my photo a day that just never got the posts they deserve.

This year will have 2 projects…

One is ‘a song a month’ – this is a private project which likely won’t get posted.  It was inspired by reconnecting with old friends of the last couple years who are consistantly surprised I haven’t written anything in so long.

Second is an exploration of the concept of “you learn something new everyday”.  This may or may not be photography related, it may be serious or silly, either way, it will be documented here – I thought about just tossing them up on twitter, but I wanted to have it as a whole collection somewhere.

Happy 2012

365 project… day 167…. zzzzzap!

I love shooting lightning storms. Once the camera’s set up, you just sit back with a glass of wine and snap away…
The clouds were pretty low Thursday, so most of the lightning bolts just made the cloud glow, but I nabbed this shot, not one of my best, but it’s like a fishing trip, this is my trophy shot from that night.

365 project… day 164. I wasn’t kidding when I said this is how I spent my summer vacation

Last morning at the beach… I dragged that sucker out into the early afternoon before heading to Viriginia Beach and an engagement shoot (photos from that later – after I deliver).

More Morning View Coffee Lovin’….

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

In a “great minds think alike” moment (or, she’s hacked my blog and read a couple of my upcoming drafts…) my sister just posted a photo and a few words about Morning View Coffee too…

It is THAT good.

I drink the candy coffee on the menu while I’m in town, because I can have it black or with a little cream and sugar at home…

In another word about this coffee and the shop’s amazing work – I am caffiene sensitive, I’m not really even supposed to drink decaf. Because of this, I have a low tolerance to the stuff – really, a couple sips of coke and I got the jitters, I’m bouncing off the walls and my stomach’s cramping up.

While there, I had a decaf coffee drink every morning and felt fine.

Which is another thing: THEIR DECAF IS DELICIOUS!!!

365 project day 159… what a difference foam core makes…

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

My orchids are cycling in and out of bloom. This one was a scratch and dent buy for like… geez… $5. I love how small it and it’s blooms have stayed over the years, and the color is why I bought it in the first place.

The other morning it caught my eye. It was back lit by the sun coming through my window, and I wanted to catch that glow, but naturally, that left parts of the flower in shadow.

Thusly:

Foam core to the rescue! Sure I have a reflector, but working in a hurry, before getting ready for work, the foam core board was closer at hand.

What a difference $2 makes.

So the “tweet this” button doesn’t really work….

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

And by that I mean – it doesn’t work at all.  I’m thinking this blog hit the nail on the head on the big ol “why?”

I’m out now, waiting on “the rest of my party” (aka Dad)  but I have a couple more “a study in her (things)” photos to post and wow, officially woefully behind on “a diary of a girl who goes to too many concerts”… two in one night Monday. Yipes! Scream and shhhhdonttellOFF! On Friday…

Lessee, ok so in the next day or two all the share buttons are either going to change or disappear until the plug-in is updated.

And that’s the news from the 9th story.

Get out and enjoy the spring!
Quick! Before it becomes a DC summer!
